US President Barack Obama has green-lit the sending of another 350 American military personnel to Baghdad. It_s a decision made at the request of the Department of Defence. But despite the ongoing fighting in the region, the new additions will not be serving in combat roles. Rather, they_ll be protecting diplomatic facilities and personnel in the Iraqi capital. The new troops are a mix of Marines and Army troops who were already serving in the US Central Command_s theatre of operations, which stretches from Egypt up to Kazakhstan. This new deployment brings the total of US forces protecting diplomatic figures in Iraq up to 820. One of the ladies became loud and abusive, and the pilot landed the plane at the nearest possible airport out of what the airline calls an abundance of caution. Only one of the passengers was removed by law enforcement.
