Not only that, but well over half have been pestered to send the saucy snaps. Did they learn NOTHING from Anthony Wiener? The study goes on to show that teens who are willing to engage in sexting are more willing to actually go all the way. And teen girls who sext were also more likely to use drugs and alcohol.Speaking of photos, those friends who post pictures of you on Facebook might not be very good friends at all. In a poll of 15-hundred women, 25-percent admit that they_ve posted unflattering photos of their BFFs on purpose One in 3 say they did it because the friend did it to them first. Most of the rest say it was because they_d had a bit of a falling out with the friend in question. But it goes both ways n 2 thirds of the respondents say they_d lose it if a friend did the same thing to them. Two early polls indicated that Obama had gotten the better of his opponent, but there_s no question this was a hotly contested debate Vic.Absolutely. Welcome to the newsroom everyone.Both former Governor Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama went on the offensive Monday night. Romney was quick to criticize the President over perceived American weakness on the international stage, particularly when it comes to Iran and the Middle East. The two tangled over what Romney has labeled the Obama Apology Tour, during the President_s first year in office. Another key exchange came while debating military spending, where Romney criticized Obama for having a navy smaller than at any time since 1917. However a full term in office showed that experience was on the President_s side. Whenever possible, Romney shifted the argument back to the American economy, stressing his five-point plan as the key to kickstarting growth. Both men had their say, and now the rest is up to the voters. The American public goes to the polls on November sixth.On the international scene, Russia has ruffled some feathers by accusing the US of a double standard when it comes to human rights. On Monday, Russia_s lower parliament held a three-hour hearing that criticized the Obama administration_s failure to close down the Guantanamo Bay prison, as well as the continued use of the death penalty in some states. Relations between the US and Russia have been noticeably more frigid since Vladimir Putin announced his plans for another term as President.Some of the acrimony comes from a new bill proposed by Congress that would have the US government place sanctions on human rights abusers, with Russia being near the top of that list. In recent weeks, presidential candidate Mitt Romney has even referred to Russia as Washington_s number one geopolitical adversary. We_ll cap off our first look at the headlines with a surprising ruling out of Italy. Six scientists have been convicted of manslaughter for failing to predict the devastating 2009 earthquake that leveled the city of L_Aquila. The city_s court has sentenced the scientists and one government official to six years behind bars, for not giving accurate warnings of the quake_s potential impact.The court_s decision hinged on evidence from a meeting held days before the earthquake. The scientists concluded it was unlikely the quake would strike, despite worries from local residents. Italian authorities have also been ordered to pay 10 million dollars in damages. Seismologists around the globe have expressed their shock and dismay at the ruling, saying it sets a precedent that could severely hinder scientific research going forward.It_s a shame what happened there, but I can_t say I agree with the decision Erica. If scientists are afraid to speak their minds, couldn_t that lead to even bigger disasters in the future?That_s exactly the argument they_ve been making. Laura Conner is standing by in the naked newsroom with the headlines and she_s beginning with some comments from Egypt_s first freely-elected president that will surely raise some eyebrows.Here she is with the details. Laura?Ladies, Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi told the New York Times that Americans need to respect the beliefs of the Arab world in order to shore up relations with his country. He also said that the US needs to live up to the promises they made in the Camp David accord. The accord, which was signed in 1978, called for a self-ruling Palestinian state. America had rough criticism for Morsi in the wake of anti-American protests in the region n the White House says he didn_t condemn the protests quickly enough. Morsi is making his first trip as president to the US in order to visit the UN General Assembly.Cable news outlet CNN is taking some serious heat from the US State department. At issue is the personal journal of murdered Libyan ambassador Christopher Stevens that CNN found at the US consulate in Benghazi. The network initially promised Stevens_ family that it would not use any of the information they found in it. But the network went back on it_s word and broadcasted information from the journal, including the fact that Stevens thought he was on an Al-Qaeda hit list.A State department spokesperson called the move disgusting and indefensible. CNN is defending their actions, saying that the State department is quote shooting the messenger. They say the journal contained Stevens_ feelings about his position and the unrest of Libya, and using the journal was simply part of their full reporting. Iran has unveiled a brand-new air defense system, designed to defend the country from American aircraft. The Raad, or Thunder, is said to have the ability to take on fighters, missiles, bombs, drones, and helicopters. They also showed off some long-range missiles, which are capable of reaching Israel. The head of the Revolutionary Guard_s airspace division said the weapons were capable of destroying the quote Zionist regime. We_ll be right back.

This is your NEWS OFF THE TOP It_s been revealed that US President Barack Obama has signed a covert order allowing American support of Syrian rebels. It_s not known exactly when Obama signed the order, but sources say it was within the last couple months. Obama_s directive allows for secret support from the CIA and other intelligence agencies.But the Obama administration has already ruled out arming the rebels, so the covert order likely involves intelligence REElays, such as the location and movement of Syrian troops. Earlier this week the US government also paved the way for the Washington Syrian Support Group to send money - but not weapons - to assist the rebel cause.Disturbing new details are coming to light concerning the Colorado movie theater gunman, James Holmes. The University of Colorado psychiatrist who was treating Holmes prior to the incident, Lynne Fenton, was extremely concerned about his behavior. Fenton told colleagues that Holmes might be a danger to others. However Holmes dropped out of school before a proper team of experts from the university could be assembled to evaluate him. At this time it_s not known whether Fenton continued to treat Holmes after he dropped out. At least 2 more people have died in Uganda_s horrific Ebola outbreak. That brings the death toll to at LEAST 16 people. 18 more remain in an isolation ward in the area where the outbreak began. Health workers have been combing the district to find people who may be infected, and also to advise residents on preventative measures.There isn_t any real treatment for the disease, which can be transmitted either by close contact or bodily fluids. Health officials say they hope this wont be a repeat of the last Ugandan outbreak, which killed hundreds. I_m Victoria Sinclair, in the news today, the US government is looking to make amends for the damage it did YEARS ago in Vietnam. That_s coming up in your News off The Top as well as THESE stories. In our top story today, the American government has started a massive cleanup project to remove contamination from its use of Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. During the conflict, US troops dumped millions of gallons of toxic chemicals over dense jungle areas to expose the enemy. Millions of Vietnamese have suffered from health problems, including deformities, in the years since. The US government has now put 41 million dollars towards clean up efforts. The war ended in 1975, and though Vietnamese officials say the gesture is a little late, it is still greatly appreciated. We all know it_s been a brutally hot summer in the US. Scorching temperatures and record drought have crippled many regions. But just HOW brutal wasn_t apparent until now. Eila Adams joins us with some RECORD statistics from the National Climatic Data Center. Eila?Vic the month of July was officially the hottest in recorded history. Even hotter than the infamous Dust Bowl drought of 1936. The average temperature was 77-point-6 degrees - more than 3 degrees above the July average in the 20th century. Not only that, but the last 12 months were the warmest the US has ever seen, or at least since record keeping began back in 1895. Climate scientists blame localized heat and global warming for the searing temperatures, which have triggered a devastating drought. And in a crushing blow to Columbian organized crime, the head of the drug cartel founded by the late Pablo Escobar has been arrested. Columbian officials say that Erikson Vargas Cardona AKA Sebastian will now be extradited to the United States. This is the latest blow to the infamous cartel founded by Escobar, who at one time was said to be the 7th richest man in the world. Columbian President Juan Manuel Santos evoking the spirit of the Olympics - gave the arresting officers symbolic gold medals for their efforts. Although I_m sure they would have appreciated the actual hardware, it was still a nice touch Vic. Thank you Eila. Coming up, we_ve got our Boob of the Week. Welcome to your News off The Top During that conflict, the US dropped millions of tons of bombs on Laos, many of which remain unexploded to this day. They_ve had a heavy impact on farmers in the country_s rural regions. The US has committed to spending 9 million dollars this year to clean up the un-detonated bombs.Also on the agenda for Clinton: discussions regarding Laos_s pending entry into the World Trade Organization. She_ll also be discussiong the contentious issue of the Mekong (ME-kong) River dam, which could affect millions of people in Laos and neighbouring countries. After her historic visit, Clinton will head to Cambodia.The King of Thailand has pardoned a US man who was jailed for insulting the Thai royal family. Joe Gordon n a used car salesman from Colorado n had allegedly posted online portions of a banned biography of King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Although he posted from the US, the Thai-born Gordon was arrested when he visited Thailand last year.Thailand has strict laws against defaming the monarchy that can result in up to 15 years in prison. The King has given no reason for pardoning and releasing Gordon. Washington had been pressing for his release since he was first arrested last May, and urged Thai officials to respect freedom of expression.And the captain of the Italian cruise liner that ran aground and capsized earlier this year, says he_s sorry about what happened. In an interview, Francesco Schettino said that, as captain, he should apologize as a representative of his company and the system. However, he insists that he_s not the only one to blame.While admitting he was distracted, he insists that the Costa Concordia was under the command of another officer when the accident happened. He also denied allegations that he was showing off to a woman on the bridge. Schettino has been released from house arrest, but is forbidden to leave his home town. He_s charged with multiple charges of manslaughter, as well as causing a shipwreck. On the positive side, he described the 42-year old congressman from Wisconsin as a decent man. But he also said Ryan_s goals are fundamentally different from his own.Ryan is a strict fiscal conservative who aims to drastically slash government spending, scrap Obamacare, and reform Medicare and Medicaid. He_s also into noodling that_s not what it sounds like n noodling is catching catfish with your bare hands. Ryan and Romney are currently on a trip through swing states, where they hope their joint platform will convince the public to vote Republican.An AWOL US soldier who planned on killing scores of his fellow servicemen has been sentenced to life in prison. Peyton Priestly has been following this story and she joins us now with a Naked News Bulletin.Rachelle, former Private First Class Naser Jason Abdo a Muslim convert n had initially refused to deploy to Afghanistan and Iraq. He went AWOL shortly afterward, and started working on a plot to bomb a restaurant near Fort Hood in Texas that was popular with servicemen and their families. He was convicted of 6 charges, including attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction. Abdo represented himself in court, where he claimed he would continue to pursue jihad until judgment day. Two former border control agents n including a high-profile spokesperson for the agency n have been found guilty of smuggling HUNDREDS of illegal immigrants across the USMexico border. Raul and Fidel Villarreal (VEE-yah-ray-AL) used their position to sneak Mexican and Brazilian citizens into the country in exchange for cash. One Brazilian woman testified that she paid 12-thousand dollars to be smuggled in. The brothers, knowing they were being investigated, fled to Tijuana in 2006, but they were soon arrested and extradited back to the US. Rachelle?Thanks Peyton. At a pro-Israel conference in Washington DC Monday night, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the clock is ticking down on halting Iran_s nuclear program. Netanyahu said that he would not let his people quote live in the shadow of annihilation. Netanyahu told the crowd of 13-thousand that his government has waited patiently on alternative measures, and that he was running out of both patience and options.Prior to the conference, Netanyahu met at the White House with US President Barack Obama. Obama is still pressing for a diplomatic resolution with Iran. But he also stressed that the US will always have Israel_s back when it comes to national security.Unfortunately, a confrontation with Iran is far from the only concern for the Obama administration these days. A well-recognized name in American politics called for US intervention in another Middle Eastern hot spot - Syria. For more on this story we_ll turn things over to Rachelle Wilde. RW) Vic, Senator John McCain is calling for a US-led international air strike campaign to protect civilian populations in Syria. Speaking from the floor of the Senate in Washington, McCain said that the situation was particularly bad in the northern part of the war-torn country, and that Syrian rebel forces needed American help to regroup and plan new attacks against the Assad (ah-SAHD) regime.McCain stressed that while the rebels had lost their stand off in the city of Homs (hOmz), there are still many other urban areas that are being contested. He said the time has come for Obama to announce a new policy.In other US news, Attorney General Eric Holder says that the US can lawfully kill terror suspects overseas, and that includes American citizens living abroad who can_t be captured. Holder said that killing a US citizen can be justified if the individual poses an imminent threat of violent attack, evades capture, and carries quote military value. Though he never mentioned any specific names, Holder_s legal defense argument was widely interpreted to refer to the drone-strike killing of American-born Al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki (AN-war al-OW-la-kee). These comments have been a long time coming Vic.VS) His death came five months ago, and civil libertarians have been critical of the President_s administration ever since. RW) That_s right. It_s all about the Constitution_s due process protections Vic. But according to Holder, because of the unique circumstances involved, the President doesn_t need to get permission from a federal judge to carry out these kinds of strikes.VS) It definitely sets an interesting precedent, doesn_t it? The wildfires that have been ravaging Colorado have now forced the evacuation of well over 30-thousand people and destroyed hundreds of homes. Firefighters have been thwarted due to extremely high temperatures and strong winds. Colorado has seen several straight days of triple-digit temperatures, with Denver seeing a record high of 105 Fahrenheit earlier this week. The heatwave has triggered extreme fire warnings throughout the state, as well as neighbours Wyoming, Utah, and Montana.In Syria, president Bashar al-Assad (bah-SHAHR ahl AH-sahd) has finally admitted what the rest of the world already knows n theyire in a state of war. Guest anchor Marina has been monitoring the situation there and joins us now with the latest.MA) Vic, al-Assad made the remarks to his new cabinet, telling them that they have to pull out all the stops to end the uprising. The fighting has been going on for well over a year now and shows no signs of letting up. If anything it_s getting WORSE. There are now reports of widespread fighting in the suburbs of the Syrian capital of Damascus. On Wednesday a pro-government TV station was also attacked. A meeting will be held in Geneva this Saturday between UN special envoy Koffi Annan, the opposition Syrian action group, the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, and delegates from Turkey, Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar, to discuss the increase in violence. And in other news, a massive 2-year international investigation into financial cyber-crime has resulted in 24 arrests. �Operation Card Shopi identified the suspects accused of stealing bank and credit card information, and then trading it online. The arrests spanned 8 countries, with nearly half taking place in the US. Itis being hailed as the largest coordinated international bust of its kind in history Vic. VIC COMES ON SCREEN.
