In an effort to catch up with the modern world, Saudi Arabia has announced plans to build a female-only city. This would be where career-minded women can climb the corporate ladder without violating strict Islamic laws. A municipality in the Eastern city of Hafuf is being given 130 million dollars in investments to get things rolling. Their estimating that 5-thousand jobs will be created with females runing companies, managing and as well as being employed on production lines. As of right now women aren_t BANNED from the workplace, but only 15 percent of them have jobs. A group of Missouri women are suing their plastic surgeon for posting before and after photos of their breast enhancement procedures on her website... WITH their names attached Some forty patients have complained about the website of Dr. Michele Koo, and a group of them are suing the surgeon for negligence. The problem was only noticed after the topless pics began surfacing in Google searches of their names. Hey, it_s never bothered ME. And a group of unhappy American shoppers have started a Facebook page to rail against a so-called invasion of Canadian bargain hunters Because groceries are so much cheaper across the border, shoppers from Vancouver Canada head south to the Costco in Bellingham Washington. The influx of extra shoppers has resulted in longer lines.Unhappy US citizens behind the Facebook page are demanding that Costco introduce American-only hours, and say the Canadian shoppers are rude. The page was picked up by Canadian media, and once word got out it resulted in ugly mudslinging from both sides. It_s made landfall as a category 1 storm and caused widespread flooding and destruction. Here_s Katherine Curtis with the latest.Eila, almost half a million people in Louisiana are without power since Isaac made landfall early Wednesday morning. So far the hardest hit area is Plaquemines Parish, near New Orleans, where levees are overflowing, prompting concerns of serious flooding. To make matters worse it seems that Isaac has stalled over New Orleans and is expected to dump up to 20 inches or rain in the next 24 hours. Add to that 80 mile per hour winds, with gusts up to 100 miles per hour, and you have a deteriorating situation. As far as politics goes, Republicans have officially nominated Mitt Romney as their candidate for President of the United States. However, polls show that he_s got his work cut out for him. According to a new Washington PostABC News poll, among total voters Romney has a 51-percent unfavorable rating. That_s the lowest of any Democrat or Republican nominee dating back to the Reagan era. We_ve got some potentially scary news for anyone who_s been camping in California recently. Nearly two thousand people have been exposed to a potentially lethal virus. Marina Valmont has been tracking this story and joins us now with the details.Kat, officials at Yosemite National Park are warning over 17-hundred campers that they MAY have been exposed to the Hantavirus. The warning extends to everyone who has stayed at the park_s Curry Village from mid-June onward. The reason for the longer-than-usual window is that it can take up to 6 weeks for symptoms to occur. Those include flu-like symptoms such as dizziness, fever, aches, and chills. 2 fatalities attributed to the virus have been confirmed so far, with 2 more infected campers, expected to survive. Kat, officials are urging anyone who_s stayed at the park to seek medical attention at the very first sign of symptoms. Some good advise, but the question I have Marina is where does this Hantavirus come from?Specifically, deer mice. Any exposure to them or their waste or fluids could infect you.Nasty. Welcome to Naked News, I_m VS. In our top story today, Jordan_s government says they_ve thwarted a major terror plot. According to officials, the plan was being referred to by the alleged terrorists as a follow-up to 9-11. Katherine Curtis has been following this developing story and joins us now with the latest. What_s going on Kat?Vic, the suspects were apparently calling it 9-11 TWO, and it was supposedly set to occur on the 7th anniversary of al Qaeda_s last attack inside Jordan. Officials say that 11 suspects were taking part, all Jordanian citizens who were moving in and out of Syria. Jordan_s intelligence suggests that targets included the US Embassy, shopping centers, and other areas populated by foreign nationals. They suggest that the shopping center attacks were designed to attract attention away from other, more prominent target buildings. Vic, the group reportedly planned on using a variety of weapons, including car bombs and submachine guns. Kat has it been confirmed that these would-be attackers are part of al-Qaeda?Too soon to say right now Vic. Intelligence officials aren_t technically labeling them as al-Qaeda. However, they DO say the suspects are, quote, associated with the ideology of al Qaeda.A very carefully worded statement. Thanks Kat. I trust you_ll keep us up to speed on any developments there.Elsewhere in the Middle East, thousands of mourners gathered in Beirut (bay-ROOT) to pay their respects to slain intelligence official Wassam al-Hassan. He was responsible for uncovering an alleged Syrian bomb conspiracy 2 months ago. It_s believed that he was the primary target in a car bombing that killed him and 7 others and injured scores more. Lebanese politicians are accusing the brutal Syrian leadership of being behind the assassination. The opposition party is also calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Mikati, who has ties to Syrian allies. Reports have surfaced suggesting that the US could be setting up one-on-one talks with Iran over their nuclear program. However, the White House is strenuously denying these rumors. Natasha Olenski joins us now with the latest. What are you hearing Nat? It depends on who you believe, Vic. The New York Times is reporting that Washington has approached Iran about having bi-lateral talks regarding their nuclear ambitions. The report quotes anonymous officials as saying that Iran was receptive to the idea, but only after America_s presidential election in November. However, American officials say that_s not the case. The White House says that they would be more than happy to meet, but that nothing was on the table as of yet. According to the US Forest Service, at least 62 blazes are ripping through California, Utah, Nevada, Idaho, and Washington. One blaze in particular in Washington has claimed 60 homes in just the past few days. Another fire in Utah that was sparked by lightning has destroyed nearly 24-thousand acres of land. Rumors are spreading through the press that America_s famous Navy SEAL team SIX, may be sent in to take out one of the world_s most notorious drug kingpins Laura Conner has been following this story and joins us now with a Naked News Bulletin Vic, if the rumors are true, Navy SEAL Team Six n the same commandos who took out Osama bin Laden n may be setting their sights on Mexican drug lord. He_s been one of the world_s most wanted men since he escaped prison in 2001. Mexico_s Procesor Magazine reported that President reached out to his own military to plan a raid, but was turned down. Now he_s allegedly reached out to the US, who has made Guzman_s capture a priority.Officials in Germany have arrested 4 people on charges of supplying Iran with nuclear reactor parts. Of the people arrested, one was a German citizen and the other three were GermanIranian DUAL citizens. They_re accused of providing Iran with heavy water reactor valves in deals worth millions of dollars. The valves were funneled in through front companies n which violates the strict German trade embargos against Iran. It also breaches weapon control laws n as heavy water reactors can be used to produce weapons-grade plutonium. Vic?We should point out that, even despite this report, the sanctions against Iran appear to be working.True. It_s the second blackout in as many days that_s affected hundreds of millions of people. Thanks Vic, as we reported on Monday Laura, 350 MILLION people were affected by the FIRST power outageAnd by all accounts this SECOND one affected almost DOUBLE that amount. As you can imagine, power companies are scrambling to get things back to normal.Here_s the story.As much as half of the country of 1-point-2 billion people was without electricity on Tuesday afternoon. The blackout affected people living in the eastern and northeast regions of India. Three power grids have now collapsed in what_s being called one of biggest blackouts in history. Fortunately, the 620 million people affected by the blackout are used to power outages, and key buildings like hospitals and airports are equipped with backup generators. Still, the consecutive blackouts are considered an embarrassing incident for a nation looking to establish itself on the international scene. In other news, police in Sydney, Australia are celebrating a record drug bust of heroin and methamphetamine. They found 525 million dollars worth of the illegal drugs stashed in terracotta pots from Thailand. The 675 pounds of meth was the largest seizure of the drug in Aussie history. The 555 pounds worth of heroin was the nation_s third-largest haul.The drugs were hidden in 32-hundred terracotta pots, and were found in Sydney_s Port Botany. Seven people - including 4 Hong Kong nationals - have been arrested. The seizures and arrests come on the heels of a year-long investigation with help from US authorities.We_ll wrap up this first look at your Naked News with some GOOD news for Haiti. Since 1994, United Nations peacekeepers have served to protect the island nation but that could soon change. Brazil and Ecuador have agreed to help Haiti build an army of its own. Haitian President Michel Martelly says the nation would rather be protected by an army of its own people. Brazil has committed to helping Haiti with troop training and engineering support, and will be sending a team to Haiti within the next few weeks to assess the situation there. US and UN officials are less happy with the news. They fear the army_s development could hinder training and equipment supplies for a new civilian police force.
